We're back!

So we got married, we moved house, we had our boiler break down multiple times and got used to commuting to work and now - finally - we get to play with the garden. And oh what lovely weather is accompanying us!

The greenhouse has been deconstructed and passed over the fence to our neighbour. The shed shall become the chicken coop, with it's concrete base and brick walls being the fox-proof medium that we very much need. The rubbish that the previous owners left in the garden is slowly being migrated to the far end awaiting it's removal. Oh so many things. Fans, childrens toys, rubbish beyond your wildest dreams, two skips worth in fact. Not to mention all of the coal ash that was dumped down the side of the shed causing damp on the one side. Oh joy.

A make-shift greenhouse on a much smaller scale has been constructed and today we planted Chives and Basil who our the first tenants. Snowdrops are also beginning to show their pretty little faces. It's all falling into place and hopefully now this blog can begin to receive updates on a regular basis!

A little visitor this weekend - our first indication that spring is in the air.

Our house cat, Figaro. Unimpressed with the damp cold outdoors, he soon retired back to his favourite spot on the sofa.

Our soon-to-be herb garden minus the glass, weeds, rubbish and plastic. I'm sure they reproduce overnight!

Chicken run space, soon to be fox-proofed.

And the chicken's humble abode complete with locking door. We're converting it into the coop, now that it has been de-cluttered.

We are truely blessed to live where we do. We are exactly where we were meant to be! Surrounded by nature; Long-tailed tits, Otter tracks, Dippers, Red Kites -- all a regular occurance. What more could a happily married couple want :-)

Much love, The Summers Family x
