So David discovered that my ducks will need grass in their pen, which meant the concrete base needed to come up, leaving the outer edges to prevent unwanted intruders. So, enter the pneumatic drill....
As in everything the tidying up was far harder than creating the mess. In thinking about the design of the run we would like to add a pond for the ducks as well as creating an area big enough for us to cordon half off to allow one section of the grass to have a rest whilst the other half of the grass was utilised. The pond issue was solved when a very "kindly" soul fly tipped an old plastic pond on our land. We are hoping the next time they will fly tip a suitcase full of money. Here's to hoping hey.
David dug the hole for the pond and fitted it in and here's the result. A duck pond, with ground ready for grass with a protective concrete boundary. David will add chicken wire below the surface of the ground just to be safe but with all the prep work now done the next step will be to seed the ground and build the frame.
Oh, and the cauliflowers are doing quite nicely too!
